The amount of business rates payable each year is based on the Rateable Value (RV) of the property multiplied by the Uniform Business Rate (UBR). In simple terms the Rateable Value of a property represents its rental value at a specified date. For rating assessments effective from 1st April 2010 the valuation date is 1st April 2008.
Advice given by Jordan and Cook is from Chartered Surveyors with detailed experience in dealing with rating appeals & with the benefit of local market knowledge which is vital.
The rating appeal service Jordan & Cook provides includes:
o An initial assessment of potential for a reduction in the rateable value of your premises. The initial assessment includes inspection & measurement of the subject property, compilation of relevant valuation evidence & production of a report detailing the prospect for a successful appeal & advice on the resultant savings.
o Submission of an appeal to the Valuation Office Agency followed by negotiations with one of their officers.
o Conclusion of the appeal by negotiation or if negotiations fail then by representing the ratepayer at a Local Valuation Tribunal.
